Qatar’s Nawaf wins Asian Junior U14 Tennis Tournament

Qatar’s Rashid Nawaf confidently claimed the title of the 2017 Qatar Asian Junior U14 Tennis Tournament organized by the Qatar Tennis, squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) in cooperation with the Asian Tennis Federation at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex.
In the final match, Rashed Nawaf defeated Rasul Nurmukhamedov of Uzbekistan 6-2 6-0.
In his way to the final match, Nawaf downed the top seed Abedallah Shelbayh in the semifinals 6-7 7-6 6-2.
In boys’ doubles event, Qatar Rashed Nayef and Ibrahim Al Sulaiti finished second after losing to Omar Fakhoury and Abedallah Shelbayh of Jordan in the final match.
In girls singles event, Meshkat Al-Zahra Safi claimed the title and teamed up with her compatriot Donya Ameri to win the doubles event.
The medal ceremony was attended by the QTSBF secretary General Tariq Zaial and Ibrahim Al Khelaifi, Deputy Head of National Teams Committee.
Rashed Nawaf was delighted by his achievement and extended his thanks and appreciation to the QTSBF represented in its President HEMr. Nasser Al Khelaifi its support to the Qatar players.
Nawas also stressed that he is looking forward to the second Asian Junior U14 Tennis Tournament to begin on Monday.
The prestigious event will bring together 100 players from Jordan, China, India Pakistan, Bahrain and hosts Qatar.
The state of Qatar will be represented by Rashed Nawaf, Meshal Al Khanji, Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Ghanim Al Khelaifi, Hamad Al Rumaihi, Abdulaziz Zainal, Adel Ghanim, Turky Al Majed , Amna Homoud and Sarah Homoud.
