Tihomir Grozdanov Wins 2nd Smash ITF Futures

In the final of the 2nd Smash ITF Futures on December 14th, Tihomir Grozdanov of Bulgaria defeated Michael Shabaz of USA, 7-6(8), 6-3, at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
In doubles, the team of Evan Hoyt and Skander Mansouri defeated the team of Nikoloz Basilashvili and Yahor Yatsyk, 6-4 7-6(2).

The final match was followed by the trophy presentation, where Qatar Tennis Federation took the chance to thank Smash Academy for their generous initiative in supporting this event; ITF Supervisor Iain Smith for overseeing the event organization; and the ball boys committee who put a great effort in the week of the tournament. In attendance were Tariq Zainal, QTF Assistant Secretary General; Saad Al Mohannadi, Tournament Director; Haikal Lakhder from Smash Academy and a number of media representatives.

After the trophy presentation, the QTF - represented by Tariq Zainal - received an award of appreciation from Smash Academy. QTF the presented another award of appreciation to ITF Supervisor Iain Smith.
Along with the final of the 2nd Smash ITF Futures, qualifying matches for the 3rd Qatar ITF Futures began with 32 players from 15 different countries aiming for a spot in the main draw.

Qatar Tennis Federation, the event organizer, gave three wild cards for National Team players including Shanan Brothers, Moussa and Abdullah, and Abdullah al Mahmoud and gave another wild card to the Abd Al Hamid Al Shatty from Kuwait to play in the main draw.

Saad Al Mohannadi, the Tournament Director, stressed on the importance of these events in improving national players’ performance by competing with international players, pointing out the role played by this tournament in increasing the ITF ranking points
