Qatar Futures Tournament Kicks Off

The 1st Smash ITF Futures events is being played November 30th to December 7th, 2013, at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.

Qualifying matches sees the participation of 32 players from 20 different countries competing for eight qualifying spots that will enable them to play in the main draw which will start December 2nd, 2013.

ITF Futures events are some of the most important tournaments hosted in Qatar and they attract a large number of media and players - who are looking for a such chance to increase their ranking points.

This event will see the participation of players from 26 countries including Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, USA, Germany, France and India.

In addition, Qatar national team players Mousa Shanan, Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Abdullah Al Jufairi and Jassim Zeyara, will receive wild cards to play in the main draw due to the results they have achieved in recent weeks.

Saad Al Mohannadi, QTF Executive Director and ITF Futures Tournament Director said, "We are proud to host the Futures events for the upcoming three weeks and we are expecting to see very competitive matches due to the high caliber names playing in these events.” He added, "We hope our national team players can provide good results in these events to elevate the level of Qatari tennis on the international arena.”
