Sunday, April 14, 2013 – Doha, Qatar – On Saturday, the Qatar Tennis Federation proudly hosted the singles final for the 2nd Qatar ITF Futures 2013 at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex. No. 4 seed, Marek Semjan of the Slovak Republic, defeated No. 2 seed, Yuki Bhambri of India, 3-6, 6-6 (ret) as Bhambri had to retire from the match due to cramping. This is Semjan’s third ITF title of the year, his second in as many weeks in Doha, and his sixth overall in his career. The 25-year old has been playing ITF events since 2005.

On Friday, the No. 3 seeded doubles pairing of Joris de Loore (Belgium) and Riccardo Maiga (Switzerland) defeated the No. 1 seeded team of Cristian Rodriguez (Colombia) and Jordi Samper-Montana (Spain), 6-4, 6-3 for the doubles title.

It was a hard-fought singles victory for the Semjan who trailed Bhambri after losing the first set. Semjan managed to fight back tolevel the second set and take it into a tiebreak. However, Bhambri had to stop play due to cramping and was unable to continue with the match. It was a disappointing end to a week of highly competitive matches for both players.
