Number one seed Mohamed Al Azhary of Syria continued his good form in the 2nd Qatar Asian U-14 Junior Tournament, organized in Doha by the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF), by reaching the singles final after beating third seed Moises Escobar (USA) in a thrilling match 6-4 7-5 6-4 on Thursday.

The Syrian will face Yemen’s Samer Thabet in the final, after the Yemeni unseeded player knocked out fourth seed Omar Ahmed in the semis in two straight sets 6-4 6-4.

Al Azhary also reached the final of the doubles competition alongside his compatriot Mohamed Naw by defeating Iran’s Safi Ardalan and Uzebekistan Said Karimov 7-5 6-1. Their opponents in the final will be Moises Escobar and Omar Ahmed who beat the Qatari duo Khalifa Al Mahmoud and Issa Shannan in the semis 6-1 6-2.

Meanwhile, India’s Saranya Nagbal and Sanjand Sudhir won the girls doubles title on Thursday after beating Yemen’s Shaimaa and Butena Al Olfi 6-0 6-4 in the final.

Nagbal will have the chance to win her 4th title in one week when she face Shaimaa Al Olfi in the final of the singles competition on Friday.

Friday schedule includes the finals of the boys singles and doubles, girls singles, in addition to playoffs and consolation matches.
