Aspetar to support Qatar Ladies Open

Aspetar, Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital has signed an agreement with Qatar Tennis Federation to offer medical services to all players participating in the WTA Tour Event, the Qatar Ladies Open taking place at Khalifa Tennis Complex from February 21 - 26.

The agreement will mean Aspetar is the Sports Medicine sponsor and provider to the Qatar Ladies Open for three years starting 2011 and ending 2013.

The National Sports Medicine Programme (NSMP) which is leading the sponsorship and Sports Medicine coverage at the Qatar Open is a rapidly evolving project at Aspetar that serves to assist athletes reach their maximum potential.

Tournament Director, Mr. Karim Alami: "Aspetar proved to be just the right partner for us, so it is our pleasure to sign this three year agreement. The agreement gives us piece of mind knowing that tennis professionals who come to Qatar to participate in the Qatar Ladies Open will be in safe hands, as the world renowned doctors at Aspetar will be taking care of their medical needs."

The Qatar Ladies Open tournament has been held in Doha since 2001. Current prize money is 721,000 USD and in 2012 the tournament will be upgraded to a Premier 5 with prize money of $2,000,000 USD and a 56 players draw. After a three year break the tournament returns in 2011 with the participation of many of the world's top players including former world number one Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark) and world number three Vera Zvonareva (Russia).
